Fishlake National Forest Fishlake National Forest is a great place to bring your family and enjoy the outdoors and have a good time. Well, we're here in the FishLake Basin on the Fishlake National Forest. It's kind of the gem, as we see it. A lot of opportunities for recreation exist, here. Well, of course you know, first and foremost is Fish Lake, itself, There's several species of fish in there. Lake Trout, Splake Trout, Tiger Trout, Musky, Rainbow, Kokanee, Perch, Browns, so lots of variety of fishing in there. There's almost always an opportunity to catch fish, here, in the Fish Lake. Winter recreation and ice fishing is huge around here. There's three different concessionaires and marinas, here through the Fishlake Basin. We have Lakeshore Marina and Resorts on the south end, and the Fish Lake Lodge in the center. There is also Bowery Haven Resorts and Marina on the north end. There's also several Forest Service campgrounds throughout the Basin, and just North of the Basin. There are several fantastic places to bring your family and friends. Some of the campsites are reservable, at least the Forest Service campsites are reservable at www.recreation.gov. Camping In The Southern End Doctor Creek would be on the South end of the Basin. It is a little more versatile for large RVs. Of course it'll take tent camping, small RVs and small campers and whatnot, but some of the larger spots are down there in Doctor Creek and then, of course, the larger group areas that accommodate large numbers of people down there. Coming on further North, you would run into the Twin Creek's Administrative site, which is basically the Forest Service site, and then the Forest Service. It's kind of a daytime use for picnicking, there. There are several spots down there for daytime use; lunches and picnics. Well, we're here in the Fish Lake Basin on the Fishlake National Forest. In the summer, they have educational programs of variety, in there. Further north, you run into Little Mac campground, and Mackinaw campground. They have mostly smaller sites, singles and a doubles in there. They have nice shower and restroom facilities there. This way people can go wash and clean up this makes it a pretty good spot for tent camping, you know. Going North Moving further North from there, is Big Mac, and Mackinaw campgrounds. There are restrooms, with water, throughout all those campgrounds up there. There is water access through those campgrounds thats available to campers and whatnot. Then we have Bowery Creek campground, is what we call it there. That's a Forest Service campground as well. Then if you go further north, out away from Fish Lake you'll run into Frying Pan campground. This is a great campground for fall use and to see some wildlife and to be right in the middle of it. Traveling further north from there, we have Tasha Equestrian campground. This campground accommodates a lot of equestrian use and that's kind of a really neat campground. It's run by the Backcountry Horsemen Central Utah Chapter and it's done all on a volunteer basis. They host all summer forests down there and schedule workweeks and volunteer projects. They take care of that campground and it's really a cool, coordinated relationship with what they're doing up there. This is a beautiful campground and a great opportunity for equestrian use. Going East Then if you travel a little bit east, down there from Tasha, and you'll run into Paiute campground. This is another great Forest Service campground. The roads are tight in there but it'll accommodate large RVs and recreational vehicles. This offers a good view of Johnson Reservoir, which is kind of tucked away out of the weather. Calm lake is usually pretty secluded, you know, and has a nice boat ramp over there and a Forest Service restroom, as well. So in between Bowery Haven and Frying Pan campground is Pelican Bay and Pelican Point. This is and a fantastic place to watch the wildlife and for bird watching. You can bring your family here and you can get on a high point and usually see pelicans or geese or waterfowl. There are a variety of types, there, The views are spectacular, up there, and it's a great place to kind of observe nature. The Fishlake National Forest is yours, and it's a great place to bring your family for some great fun.
